Description This is a lithograph entitled "Columbus." The image shows Christopher Columbus standing on his ship near a mast with his hands crossed and a map in his left hand. Around him the men are on their knees or are pointing out to sea.
Notes Christopher Columbus (born in 1451 and died in 1506), Italian Spanish navigator who sailed west across the Atlantic Ocean in search of a route to Asia but achieved fame by making landfall in the Americas instead.
