Description This is a silhouette of W. Ratoli on heavy card stock. The silhouette is applied black paper. It is a full length shadow image of Ratoli. He is wearing a suit with a double breasted frock coat and holds a trumpet. The background is a pencil sketch of a music room with piano and large window. In the lower left corner is "Aug'' Edouart ____ / Lexington June 1st 1844" in brown ink.
Notes Ratoli was listed as a 32 year old musician in Lexington in the 1850 census.

Auguste Amant Constant Fidèle Edouart (1789–1861) was a French-born portrait artist who worked in England, Scotland and the United States in the 19th century. He specialized in silhouette portraits.
