Description This is a cartoon in black ink on art board that is six panels long. In the first panel, the "Legi-Slug," wearing a suit coat and tie, introduces himself in front of a capitol building and a disclaimer points out that "less than 100% are true slimy invertebraes." In the second, the slug crawls over bottles proclaiming his love of pollution. In the third, a picture of an eating pig accompanies the slug, tail receding, proclaiming that he will "help utilities and horse breeders," but in the fourth, which is a close-up of the slug, also says that he will "play politics with school reform." The fifth panel is another closeup, this time with a moon and spider in the background that is a lead into the last panel, which only shows the slug's trail of slime and some money. The two panels suggest that even if the Legi-Slug is fired, because he's "sweetening" his retirement plan, he'll still do all right for himself. In the lower right corner of the art board is listed the board's producer: "Graphic Arts Systems Inc. / 19499 Miles Road [dot] Cleveland, Ohio-44128 / 216 - 581- 9050 {space} 1 - 800 - 447 - 2349 / FAX 216 - 581 - 9041."
Notes This cartoon was donated to the Frankfort Arts Foundation by Lexington Herald-Leader cartoonist Joel Pett as part of exhibit/fundraiser, "Reflections Thru the Inkwell: The Art of Political Cartoons." Cartoons were solicited from local and national cartoonists and auctioned off. Several were not sold and the Foundation donated three to the KHS.
