Description This record has three parts.

Part A is believed to be a No. 2 Meek and Milam baitcasting fishing reel. The reel has been severely damaged by fire. The maker's mark is barely recognizable. The finish heavily damaged. Part of the tailplate and half of the foot have melted. The front cover and pillars have a double robe decorative design.

Part B is the counterbalanced crank for the reel. It is also heavily damaged. The handle end and handle are missing.

Part C is one pillar from the damaged reel.
Notes A tag with this reel states that it was burned in the 1883 Southern Hotel fire in St. Louis, Missouri. The Southern Hotel was destroyed by fire in 1877 but rebuilt two years later. It is unclear if the reel was damaged in 1877 or a later fire.
