This is a "Grandmother's Flower Garden" patterned quilt. The background of the main part of the quilt is a salmon color. The main design is alternating rows of six and seven medallions. The rows with the six medallions also have two half medallions--one on each end. The background and the medallions are made up of 6-sided pieces that measure approximately 1 1/4". The medallions vary in color and pattern but all have black velvet centers. There are some medallions that are black velvet with an embroidery design like the one on the quilt border. There are ten medallions that have initials embroidered in the centers. The fabrics of the medallions range from stripes to florals. The border of the quilt is made of black silk and has variegated thread embroidery in a floral design. The embroidered border is only on three sides. There is a narrow salmon colored rounded border that runs on all four sides. There is a brown and cream striped silk back with small wooden button attached. The buttons alternate being covered in salmon and black silk. The initials on the quilt are from the top: Row 3: F.H.H. ?
