Description This piano forte is made of mahogany veneer over pine. It has sixty eight ivory veneered and ebony keys with brass inlay and rosewood banding. It also has six turned and fluted legs with a brass sleeve at the top. There is an embossed tassel design on the pedal.
Notes Astor & Horwood was a London piano manufacturer known for exporting to America. A note in a letter in the file says this was one of the first pianos to travel through the Ohio Valley but no further provenance is given.
