Description This collection is made up of five sections of ingrain carpeting. Four sections are of the same color and pattern. The fifth is the smallest section and although it has the same pattern it is of a different color set. It is possible that the four larger pieces were originally the same color as the small piece but are now extremely faded. Part A is the smallest section. It has a floral pattern with a cream colored background and red flowers. The design is reversed on the backside. There were two small pieces of leather and two rusty nails attached to the carpet on one side where the carpet had been tacked to the floor. (They are in the accession file.) The edges are ragged. Part B has a cream background and a brownish colored floral pattern. The design is reversed on the backside. Part C has a cream background and a brownish colored floral pattern. There is a reddish tint to the colored sections of the rug. The design is reversed on the rear. It is hemmed on the two short sides. The two long sides are selvage edges. Part D is similar to Parts B and C. There is the same reddish tint to the brown dye indicating that the brown might have been red at one time. The two short sides are hemmed and the two long sides are selvage edges. Part E is the largest piece and it is identical to the other four pieces that are cream with a brownish design. This piece has the two hemmed edges as well as the two selvage edges.
