Notes Gary Hart (born Gary Warren Hartpence) is an American politician, lawyer, author, and professor. He served as a United States Senator from Colorado from 1975 to 1987. During that time he ran for president both in 1984 and 1988 elections, though both races ended with him not achieving the Democratic nomination.

This object was donated on December 30, 1986 by Drexell Davis. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in the Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia.
