Description This maple chair has a tripartite back. There is a solid horizontal splat across the top. Approximately four inches below that is another horizontal splat with a thin rail on the top and bottom connected by small ball-like features. The bottom third of the back is a set of 3 spindles topped by a solid narrow band of wood. The legs are splayed and have turnings near the end of the legs and about two inches from the seat. The legs are connected by two plain rails on the right and left and two turned rails on the front and back.
Notes This pair of chairs (1984.23. 1 and 2) are attributed to the Versailles, Woodford County area of Kentucky. They descended through the McAfee family of Mercer County to Warren Bosman of Cincinnati.
