Description This is a seed sower. It has a red wooden hopper/frame with canvas seed bag tacked around rim. There is a lever--with five settings--on the left side of the frame that opens a metal trap to release seed from the bag to the metal pan below. A crank on the right drives a gear to power a four vaned pan which casts seed in a circular pattern.
Notes A device used to sow grass seed. Collected by the donor from antique shops and barns, etc. in southern Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky over the last thirty years.
