Description "Centre College, Danville" is a print from a wood engraving by Eastman. It is from page 205 of "Collins' Historical Sketches of Kentucky", Cincinnati, 1847. Pictured is a Greek Revival structure with six columns supporting a pediment over a portico, with two wings extending symmetrically on either side. The wings have alternating engaged pilasters and windows and are flanked by trees and several other buildings to the right. A wood fence runs diagonally from left bottom corner to right edge. Page 206 has text on Centre College.
Notes Schmidt catalogue number KV 92; 1092. Relates to KV 259. Removed from Collins' Historical Sketches of Kentucky, Cincinnati, 1847. According to Collins: "Centre College was chartered by the legislature of Kentucky in 1819. The board of trustees is appointed by the Presbyterian synod of Kentucky. The numbers of students has ranged, during the last three years from 165 to 185."
