|Description||This fan has a single, flat, lightweight cardboard surface in the shape of a shield which is affixed to a flat, thin, wooden handle with rounded ends. The cardboard is red, white, and blue. The fan has a blue background with white stars along its top, a white center, and red and white vertical stripes along the bottom. Printed in white text on the blue, top section is "I'm a fan of" in capital letters. Printed in blue text on the white, middle section is "Mike Miller / for / State Treasurer" in capital letters. In much smaller blue lettering below this is printed "Pd. for by Candidate." The fan is attached to the wooden handle with two metal staples.|
Mike Miller ran in the 1983 State Treasurer Democratic Primary against Frances Jones Mills and John A. Celletti. Miller won 33.23% of the votes, losing the nomination to Frances Jones Mills. Mills won the general election against Republican Patricia Schafer.
This object was donated on December 30, 1986 by Drexell R. Davis. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in the Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia.
