Description This is a Chromolithograph of a Night Heron or Qua Bird by J. J. Audobon from the Bien Edition of Audubon's Birds of America. On this full color image, There appears to be two large herons, one that has black, grey and white plumage and the other with brown, standing in what appears to be a swamp. The brightly colored bird is bending over to swallow up a small speckled toad. The words read on the top left corner "No. 9-1" and the top right corner reads "PLATE 363." The bottom left corner reads, "Drawn from Nature by J. J. Audobon, F, R, S. F, L, S." and the bottom right corner reads, Chromolithy by J. Bien, New York 1860. The bottom center legend reads "Night Heron or Qua Bird/ Ardea Nycticorax, L."
Notes Audubon was born in 1785 and died in 1851. Bien was born in 1826 and died in 1909.
