Description This crazy quilt is made of silk and satin pieces. It has wool batting and a cotton backing. There is a center design of a wreath of flowers on black velvet. That section has a floral embroidered edging. Throughout the piece there are various embroidered designs that include two cats (one done in white and one in black), a horse, a teakettle, a pair of scissors, a child, a butterfly, and a parasol. There are three initials done in brown felt. One is a "M" and on a nearby section are the letters "J" and "H". There is a ribbon from a Kentucky State Grange meeting included as a piece. There are also a couple of pieces that were printed fabric. The edge is finished with a brown satin twisted braid. Each piece is embroidered in a different color yarn.
Notes This quilt was made by Sally Ferguson Houston of Nelson County, Ky. It was exhibited in Daughter's of the American Revolution quilt show in 1973.
