Description This punch has a straight wooden handle topped with a heavy wrought iron punch. The punch itself has a round striking surface, square body, and ends in a tapered rectilinear punch. The eye where the wooden handle joins with the metal is oval. The corners of the striking punch are chamfered. There is a metal wedge in the top of the handle at the poll.
Notes Used as anvil tool by blacksmith to pierce hot metal. Collected by the donor from antique stores, barns, etc. in southern Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky over the last thirty years.
