Description This is a Lyndon Baines Johnson lithographic process campaign button. The background of the top half of the button is red and the bottom is blue. The red and blue fields are separated by a white horizontal bar. The button has red, white, and blue text that reads, "LBJ / FOR THE / USA" with a pair of red and blue stars flanking the words "for the." Along the edge, there is white text that reads, "DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE 1964." There are also three small union labels. The back has a stickpin fastener.
Notes Lyndon Johnson became president in 1963 following John Kennedy's assassination and was elected in his own right in 1964 over Republican Barry Goldwater. The donor worked in the local presidential campaigns of Republican Nelson Rockefeller in 1964 and Democrat Eugene McCarthy in 1968 in Louisville.
