Description This is a set of stainless steel cast cutters with diamond pattern textured handles. The piece has squared forks screwed onto handles that hold two jaws of cutting blades. The bottom jaw is held stationary and the top opens and closes. The piece has a smoothed edge to allow it to slide up the limb as a cast is cut by the top blade. The piece is marked "Stanley Kuhlman/ MADE IN USA/ PAT. NO. 2277442."
Notes Used in an office in Cadiz used by five doctors between 1894-1975. Donor uncertain who purchased this equipment. Homer Blane (1873-1918) set up the office with his father Henry. Dr. J. Lacy Hopson (1883-1926) followed Blane. The donor's father, Dr. John Futrell (1899-1974) and his brother Elias(1899-1979) practised there from 1927-1974.
