Description This is a white linen counterpane with a sheared candlewick design. It has a swag border with a star blossom in a double circle in the center. It has a hand knotted linen fringe.
Notes Spun and woven by Roseannah Fisher Hardin (1781 - 1876), probably in 1809 on her Mercer County farm. Husband was Martin Hardin (1785 - 1876). The Hardins had six daughters and three sons following their marriage in 1806. According to earlier records a history of the Hardin family is available in the library and there is a photocopy of a daguerreotype of the couple in the file.
