Description In the foreground a peddler is sitting on a horse-drawn cart in front of Wilson's store. A sidewalk with trees runs beside the road. A man is standing next to a tree (the middle ground) facing the peddler and his wagon. The building is white brick with green shutters. Vines are growing on a wooden porch.
Notes Arthur F. Jones observed in his book, 'The Art of Paul Sawyier,' that this painting was commissioned by Dr. J. Leslie Davis of Philadelphia, PA, in October, 1916. In 1981 as part of a KHS membership campaign 2,000 'collector's' prints were issued.
