Description This chromolithograph depicts the scene of the Death of Zachary Taylor. President Taylor is depicted in bed with his eyes closed and wearing a white nightshirt. On the near side of the bed are the figures of two kneeling women with their backs to the viewers. One woman is in a black dress with a white bonnet and the other is a girl wearing a yellow dress with her hair in curls down her back. On the far side of the bed, the artist depicts one kneeling girl with a black dress and white collar looking sadly at the president. Behind the girl stands seven men. One of these men is a clergyman in vestments with a Bible in his hand. The other men are illustrated wearing period clothing including coats, waistcoats, cravats, etc. The scene is framed by draperies in two shades with the dark green at the viewer's left and the crimson at the viewer's right.
