Description |
2 material samples of placemat fabric are woven in a plain weave structure accented with diamond twill stripes, all of wool yarns. The warp consists of various combinations of stripes in orange, brown, green, yellow, and red 10/2 yarn; the weft is orange 3/2 yarn. There are two twill stripes per side running along the width of the samples, with an "X" pattern of yellow warp yarns. All edges are unknotted fringe with black zigzag stitching. A white cardboard tag is stapled to each sample. On one sample it reads, "8-17-72 / placemats /serico," and written on the other tag is "Churchill Weavers / Berea / Kentucky". |
