The watercolor scene depicts the end of the Old Covered Bridge in Frankfort, Kentucky. The left side of the painting features images of a building with 4 figures (3 adults and 1 child) in front. The right side features the south entrance to the covered bridge with 3 adults entering the bridge or standing by it. The painting features trees in the background. |

According to the exhibit catalog for 'A Kentucky Artist: Paul Sawyier (1865-1917)' there are two titles for this painting including 'South End of Covered Bridge' and 'South End Old Bridge.' A third alternate title, '#11 Old Bridge, Frankfort, Ky' is written in pencil on the back. The painting was originally in the collection of J.J. King, a long time Sawyier patron. |
