Description |
This is a colorless pressed glass cup plate. It has a pressed image of a sailing ship in the center. The ship is surrounded by shields, stars, and scrolls. The border is decorated with lyres, scrolls and stars. The rim is composed of alternating one large and two small scallops. |
Notes |
Marquis de Lafayette visted America in 1824 and was accorded a hero's welcome. He arrived in New York in 1824 aboard the "Cadmus." This plate was created by the Boston and Sandwich Company, which was in business from 1826 until 1888, to commemorate that arrival. |
