This is an Italian naval cap from WWII. It is made of three pieces of dark khaki-colored cotton that have been sewn together. The first piece is the crown, which is circular and flat. The second piece is the underside of the crown or the brim, which has four vertical seams. The third piece is the headband, which has a black ribbon band around the middle. The black band is embroidered with two stairs and tan letters, reading: "Regia Marina." A long black cotton strap is sewn onto the interior of the headband, and is knotted at the end. The interior of the headband is lined with black leather. The interior lining of the crown is made of black cotton, with a painted stencil, reading: "S 31 12/0781." It is machine-stitched, with dark khaki-colored thread. |
