Description |
A mint green and white package of "Salem" lower tar filter tip cigarettes. On the side of this package there is a label that states; "Warning: The Surgeon General Has Determined That Cigarette Smoking Is Dangerous to Your Health." On the back of this package it says; "Salem, As the leader in tobacco technology we have now discovered a way to lower the tar and at the same time actually improve Salem's cool fresh menthol taste, making Salem richer, smoother, even more satisfying." Also on the bottom of this package there is a sticker stamp from the state of Tennessee for the cigarette tax. |

The donor's husband operated Shelbyville Tobacco & Candy from 1933-1991, a tobacco wholesaling business. He collected cigarette packages and displayed them in the business. |
