Description |
This is a pencil drawing by J.W. Venable titled "The Grave of Daniel Boone" from 1855. The image depicts Frankfort Cemetery with tall trees in the foreground, one carved with the word "Boone" with a wooden bench around it. There are trees set amidst several tall gravestones and monuments including Boone's, which is near a cliff surrounded by a fence and overlooking the Kentucky River, which has a row boat with two people in it, at the right. There is a tall monument in the background behind the trees with an angel on top of it holding what looks like a halo with spikes sticking out of the area around her. There are two other monuments in front of that one, one is a tall square shape with a figure on the top while the other goes up to a point. |
