Description |
This is a messenger's badge from the General Association of Colored Baptists' Kentucky convention of 1900. The ribbon is light blue with black lettering. At the top is an opened Bible in black and below it reads, "Messenger / TO / General Association / OF / Colored Baptists / AT / Georgetown, Ky. / August 15-19 / 1900." Below this is a symbol with radiating beams. |

The General Association of Colored Baptists in Kentucky as it was called at that time, now the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky's main objective was to own and run the Kentucky Normal & Theological Institute, which was in 1918 renamed Simmons University. It is presently named Simmons College of Kentucky. |
