Description |
This object is a badge from the 1904 Appellate convention in Lexington, Kentucky. It is a celluloid process button with tinplate backing. The front of the button has a black and white image of the democratic presidential nominees Alton B. Parker and Henry G. Davis. The jugate is framed in a light brass scrolling border. |

According to the August 3, 1904 Lexington Herald-Leader, "The committee has selected unique badges for the convention. Suspended from a bar by a blue ribbon is a medallion with the portrait of Parker and Davis, the Democratic nominees for President and Vice President and bearing the lettering Appellate Convention, Lexington, Ky., August 4th., 1904. On the bar is indicated the character of the badge, Guest, Press, Reception, Alternate, Delegate." The convention was called to nominate a judge for the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District. The convention nominated Judge James E. Cantrill. |
