Description |
This painting, known as Cherokee Park, features a woodland scene. The painting features a creek running from the right foreground to the middle background. A footbridge is depicted in the middle foreground and trees lean over the creek on both sides. The woods on both sides are dark and arch over small patch of brightly lit sky in the middle background. |
Notes |
Harvey Joiner was born in Charlestown, IN in 1852. In 1880, he established a studio in Louisville. Although he earned an early reputation as a portrait artist, he turned increasingly to oil landscapes. He reportedly executed more than five thousand oil landscapes, most featuring beech trees at twilight. |
