Description |
This item is a bronze medal presented by the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) to Robert Coleman for his service in World War l, indicating his descent from a Confederate soldier. This medal is a Maltese cross with an inscription on the edges of arms (clockwise) "CREANTUR / FORTIBUS / 1861 - 1865 / FORTES". There is a superimposed cross with the Confederate cross and stars with the years "1917 / 1918" on the horizontal arms. It is suspended by an intertwined "UDC" from a maroon, white, and khaki ribbon with a stylized sea creature stud in the center. There is a straight pin closure on the back. Near the top of the reverse side of the medal is the number "9997", and at the bottom is the company name "MEDALLIC / ART CO. / NEW YORK". |
