Description |
This broadside has a black and white photograph of Robert Kennedy in the upper left hand corner with a title to the right that reads, "Now, / more than ever, / our nation needs / ROBERT KENNEDY." Under the bottom right corner of the black and white photograph are the words "Photo by Bob Bridges" in small black lettering. The text is black and is printed on thin newspaper print, and surrounded by a black, square line border. At the very bottom of the poster, centered and outside the border, is a union printing trademark. The mark reads "Allied Printing / Trades Council / Union Label / Los Angeles" and has the number "111" to its right. The main body of text on this broadside defends the title, talking about why the nation needed Robert Kennedy and venturing into topics such as racism, illegal immigration and more. |
Notes |
Former Attorney General Robert Kennedy was a leading candidate for the 1968 Democratic presidential nomination before being assasinated in a California hotel kitchen in 1968. This object was donated on December 16, 1996 by Drexel Davis. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in the Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia. |
