Jean Ritchie, a sociologist and folk musician from Perry County, received a Fullbright scholarsip in 1954 to visit England, Scotland, and Ireland to study their music and compare it to her families' Appalachian musical traditions. This album includes field recordings from her trip as well as her own versions. |
