Notes |
The Southern Exposition in Louisville was a major cultural event in the history of nineteenth century Kentucky and one of the nation's most significant regional fairs. It opened on August 3, 1883, when the attendance was 20,000. The fair finished its first year with a total attendance of 770,048, one of the most proudly hailed cultural events in Kentucky history. It ended in 1887. Found in a collection of buttons and emphemera with no obvious source. Probably collected in haphazard fashion by KHS staff as political events and personalities occurred. |
