Description |
This is a full-page black and white wood engraving that appeared in Harper's Weekly magazine. Sixth stone towers support a truss railroad over the Green River on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The train crossing the span consists of the engine car, and three attached boxcars, the last with the text "LOUISVILLE - NASHVILLE." The background is a landscape with trees and a mountain in the distance. The reverse of the page includes articles from around the world such as France, Austria, Mexico, and Australia. Most notably there is an article describing the Emperor Napoloean driving his own carriage. Dr. Evans, an American dentist in France, is mentioned as a topic in the Evening Post. |
