Description |
This is a delegate badge and ribbon that was created for the Republican National Convention of 1904. The ribbon is a red, white and blue satin that is frayed at the bottom. The sides are the selvages, and there is a vertical red, white, and blue stripe that make up the ribbon. At the top of the ribbon, there is a brass pin with a badge handing from it. The pin has a hook and pin back, and the pin depicts a brass eagle with its wings extended holding olive branches with a capitol dome behind it. Hanging below the eagle on two chains is a badge with a floral pattern around the edge in the shape of a shield. There is a rectangular bar at the top of the shield and a circular area in the middle of the lower section which contain an inscription in white on a black background. The text reads, "DELEGATE / REPUBLICAN / CHICAGO / JUNE 21ST / 1904 / NATIONAL CONVENTION". On the back of the badge there is a maker's mark which reads, "WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. / NEWARK N.J. / PAT APPL'D FOR". |
