Description |
The portrait depicts Thelma Stovall as an older women with white hair that is is seated, in what appears to be a blue chair, with a bush of roses behind her. She is wearing a deep green suit with a wide collared white blouse underneath and a necklace of green and rainbow colored beads around her neck. In the background there is swatches of green representing three leaves on a cyan blue surface. These colors are typical of the artist Petrie's pallet, such as Demi God (1999.9.2) found in our collection, however the painting is less expressive and more realistic. |
