Description |
This is a Khaki cotton North Korean Army cap. It has red piping at the front, and four brass buttons, two holding the chinstap on over the bill, and two holding the earflaps up to the sides of the crown. Pinned to the front is a circular metal pin with a star in the center. The interior is lined with a gray/blue cotton lining. |
Notes |
William S. Stovall (1922-1998) was an Army Ranger from Lexington who enlisted in February 1941 after a year with the KNG. He fought in North Africa, Italy, and across Europe, receiving the silver star, purple heart, and good conduct medal. He became a master sergeant in 1949 and was discharged. Called back to service as a reservist, he was promoted to 1st Lt. during the Korean War in March 1951. He was promoted to Captain in 1956 and retired in 1961. He was an avid collector of souvenirs from his service. |
