Notes |
This shucking peg was used by the donor's grandfather, John Morgan, on his farm in Lancaster, KY. Mr. Morgan farmed over 100 acres where he grew tobacco, corn, hay, and raised cattle. John Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1885/6 and died in 1967. Corn huskers were used by farmers to pick corn by hand. The person would walk down a row with either a husking knife in their hand or a cornhusker attached to their glove. The person would pick the corn from the stalks by twisting each ear and cutting it off. Then they would toss the ear of corn into the wagon. |
