Notes |
The coverlet was made by the donor's grandmother, Laura Hampton Bays of Greenup County, KY. She made it prior to her wedding in 1894. She wanted to finish the coverlet prior to her wedding but discovered she did not have enough of the yarn she was using. She finished the piece using the yarn she had on hand. She also spun and dyed the wool for the coverlet. Laura Hampton and Charles Edward Bays were married in 1894. They lived in Whetstone in Greenup County, Kentucky. |
