This map is a colored lithograph done by Julius Bien & Co. of New York for the "Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies." This is #2 of Plate XXIV, Series I, Vol. XVI. The information in the upper left corner states: "Map of the Battle-Field of Perryville, Ky., Major General Don Carlos Buell Commanding the U. S. Forces, General Braxton Bragg Commanding the Confederate Forces, October 8th, 1862, Surveyed and Compiled by order of Major General George H. Thomas, U.S.A., Scale: 1"=1 mile, Authorities. Surveys by Edward Ruger and Anton Kilp, Official reports of officers of both armies." The lower right gives the key to the armies positions before and after the fight. The U.S. is represented by blue, Confederate in red . |
