Notes |
Jim Johnson purchased this set online for the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017. The eclipse was visible across 14 contiguous states, including Kentucky. Hopkinsville was the point of greatest eclipse as it experienced 2 minutes and 41.2 seconds of totality. It was the first total solar eclipse visible in the Southeastern United states since 1970. Jim traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to view the eclipse. He gave a pair of viewers to Beth Caffery Carter to use. Beth used the viewers in Crofton, Kentucky, located 13 miles north of Hopkinsville. Many stores and websites sold out of solar eclipse glasses prior to the event. |
