Description |
This is a cloth sculpture or fabric art called "Southern Gothic." The main section of the piece is a blue work shirt inside the top portion of a pair of overalls. To the right of that is the top portion of a woman's dress. It is made of a pink, blue and white plaid fabric. On the proper right breast of the dress is a brown leather glasses case. At the bottom center of the piece is a green bound book "The Spirit of Sweetwater" by Hamlin Garland. The clothing is on a burlap background. Around the edge of the piece is a border (approximately 1 1/2" wide) made of a roping-like material. The corners have triangular pieces made of the same fabric as the woman's dress. Around the clothing is an oval border made of the same roping-like material. |
