In Arthur Jones 1976 book, 'The Art of Paul Sawyier,' he notes the diary of Rose Stoddard of Cincinnati, Ohio, documents that Sawyier came to Kentucky from New York in October of 1916 to paint scenes of Dr. J. Leslie Davis' native Keene, Kentucky. |
