Notes |
Charles Frank Rickert is listed in the 1900 census as a white male aged 19, born in Kentucky in 1881, living at the Central Kentucky Lunatic Asylum, the son of the Asylum's butcher, Peter Rickert. The Asylum had a staff of roughly 250 in 1900. Charles married Violet Martha Forcht on April 19, 1911. He probably constructed the chest as an example of his work upon becoming a journeyman carpenter or joiner. The tools in the chest seem to reflect a number of trades including carpentry, auto mechanics and body work, plumbing, and leather working. |
