Notes |
Dr. Glenn U. Dorroh (1901-1985) used the objects in this collection while serving in the Medical Corps, U.S. Army Reserves. Born in Caldwell County, Kentucky, Dorrah attended medical school at the University of Louisville. He moved from Louisville, where he was working as a medical doctor, to Grandview Heights, Ohio, between 1930 and 1936. Dr. Dorroh enlisted in the Army Reserves in September 1940 and held the rank of captain. He was discharged from active duty in November 1946. After the World War II, he worked as a physician in Lexington and served as president of the Fayette County Medical Society. In 1961, he retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of colonel. Some items in this collection issued to Dr. Dorroh are Army issue riding uniform pieces. Some date to before 1940. It is possible he was assigned to the dismounted calvary early in his military career based on these items. The papers of Dr. Dorroh are found at the University of Louisville Archives and Special Collections. |
