Description |
This is an Officer's sash. It is made of maroon cotton knit. The majority of the sash is plain, with two ornate baubles attached at either end. These baubles have a braided knot at the top, with a rope trim underneath and rope fringe on the bottom. |
Notes |
According to the old catalog card these were 'Worn by Peter Dudley in the war of 1812.' The original accession number for this artifact is 1904.37. According to one researcher, his research (KHS Catalogue #5) indicates that the sash and hat in this collection actually belonged to Dudley's father and his father wore them in the Revolutionary War. |
