Notes |
This item was used by Joseph Trent Chatham on his Muhlenberg County farm near Greenville. During the 1860s, steel teeth began to be substituted for iron and iron frames for wood in harrow design. This substantially increased the harrow's strength and performance. Sectional harrows began to be developed in the 1880s, allowing several sections to be linked together to permit flexibility on uneven land. The lever adjusted the angle and depth of the teeth. |
