Notes |
Marcus Raymond Davis taught sixth grade at North Shore School. His name and address can be found on page 16 of this yearbook. Marcus, the donor's brother, was killed in Vietnam on April 4, 1970. He was born in Harlan Kentucky and graduated from Morehead in 1968 with a history degree. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida and taught school for a few months before being drafted. The decision to report was an easy one according to the donor, "We were not the kind of people who ran off to Canada. We did our Share." Raymond went to Ft. Campbell for basic training with the 173rd Airborne in late 1968 and early 1969. He went to Vietnam in November of 1969. The donor also served in the military during Vietnam. She was a nurse stationed on Guam. (See 2002.27.2-.26) A letter from one of his students wishing him luck in the military was transferred to Special Collections. |
