Richard Hickman Menefee (1809-1841) sat for the portrait two days prior to his death and Frazer finished the work after his death. Menefee was a U.S. Representitive from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and served from 1837-1893. Menifee County, KY was named in his honor. The spelling of the county is different that the family name. |
