Description |
This is a black cotton capelet. It has both hand stitches and machine stitches. There is a two-inch ruffle color that extends around the neck. The bottom is trimmed with a three and a half inch long plain cotton band with a one inch fold around the top edge of it. The back of the capelet has two darts at the neckline. |

This belonged to Emily Jane Clark Duncan. Emily Jane Clark married Matthew F. Duncan on April 30, 1863, in Mercer County, Kentucky. They had eight children in 17 years. She died on January 13, 1929, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, at the age of 99. |
